If the world is apparently warming then someone forgot to tell the planet.
2010 was an El Niño year giving us some warmer temperatures, while 2011 turned into a La Niña year giving us much cooler temperatures. The 2012 temperatures have plunged to a new record low since the AQUA satellite began operation in 2002.
The graph above shows daily global temperatures in the lower troposphere (14,000 feet above sea level) which is largely used as the best comparison for average global temperatures.
The current average temperature readings are the lowest on record for this satellite in the lower troposphere and January 2012 is tipped to be the coldest month in thirty years.
